Was originally built in the eighteenth century, when Burnham was a thriving market town and has gradually grown over the years, now come relax and enjoy our local real ales and extinsive wine list.
Recently taken over by Claire and Trevor Howell, both professionally trained chefs, who offer superb food, lunchtime and evening, in the bar and conservatory.
If you would like to make your meal more of an occasion, you could sample the culinary delights of the Galley, their adjoining fine dining restaurant, (evenings and Sunday lunchtime only), arguably the finest food in the Southend area. Booking essential!
Accommodation is available in 5 luxury en suite rooms built adjacent to the pub. They all have full gas central heating, television, F.M. radio, internet wireless access, (free of charge),tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryer. There is also plenty of parking space.
Burnham on Crouch is an excellent centre from which to explore the delights of rural Essex. In the town there are all the usual shops and restaurants and several old English pubs. The town is built on the beautiful River Crouch and is the prime yachting centre of the area. It is known in yachting circles as The Cowes of the East and is home to four yacht clubs including, The Royal Corinthian and The Royal Burnham. It also boasts its own five star marina.
In addition to the nautical theme, the town has an 18 hole golf course, sports centre, museum, Mangapps Railway Museum and plenty of country walks. There are also boat trips down the river where you can visit the resident seal colony.
